New Year's Eve
It is so unbelieveably hot. At 9:30 this morning it was almost 30 degrees Celsius. You know it is "hotter than the back door of a furnace" outside when the airconditioner almost starts to fail to cool down the one or two rooms you have shut off from the rest of the house! There's at least one of those days like that each year. Lately those kinds of days are getting more numerous!
Winter isn't really Winter anymore, Summer is trying to get into the record books for how many days in a row it can go without rain ... sometimes continuing right through the first month of Autumn.

We went to bed early last night as the electricity went off at about 9:45pm. Street lights were out, everything was out. I made my way to the kitchen bench where I'd left my mobile phone, then used the light from it to help me get the candle out of the cupboard... which I lit.
Once done, I made my way back to CJ and he turned the power off at the meter box. Then came the decision to go to bed. Oh fun.

I still think I should have stayed up a little bit to read by the light of the candle before going to bed.

Hope we can stay up long enough to make it to midnight to see in the New Year.

I might go into EverQuest and spend "midnight" in there ... I wonder if any other Aussies will be online at the same time?!

I'm beginning to wonder what the point of having msn messenger and icq still installed on this pc is. Hardly anyone messages me anymore .... bloody lonely online these days.

Family Christmas - take two
Today was my family's turn. Well some of them (two, to be exact!)

Nan and Dad showed up and we had a fantastic meal and chat.

On the whole was a pretty good day.

Apart from our 30ft Lilypily tree being destroyed. It had started to drop limbs, which had started to play on CJ's mind. Thus keeping him awake most nights and not a very happy chappy. Since summer has started we've been sleeping with the bedroom window open for the hope of some cool air during the night. And of course we both sat bolt upright in bed one night when we heard the branches break off and fall at 3am in the morning! So, then started the sleepless nights and the worry for CJ. Every night, if we had the window open, all we could hear was the creaking and sharp cracking noises coming from the tree.
So the tree had to go. I was not happy about it going, and voiced my opinion. I had thought it would be ok just to be trimmed and we'd still have it there ... a bit smaller, but still there. But no, he brought to my attention that where limbs were rubbing against each other, they were damaged and dead, therefore not as strong, and could go at any minute. Also there were the huge limbs overhanging the neighbour's garage.

So my beloved tree went. *sigh*

A day to rest
Well, today was a day to have a rest.

No family around no huge meals, just having a bit of a laze!

I'm typing this post on the 29th, and I cannot for the life of me remember what we did!!!

Over the last 4 weeks or so, we have watched the following movies:
Alexander:
I taped this off paytv (yes, I know it is said to be illegal - even
to tape "normal" free to air tv - but hey, everyone does it)
and
got about a third of the way into it.   There is no way I can continue.
I don't know what it is about this movie, but it is ... um ... boring.
!!!!!!

Dunno if anyone else thought it was too, but I did.  Coudn't help it.

Batman Begins:
   Not
bad, I laughed through most of the movie.   I couldn't help it, the
special effects had me in stitches.   Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed
the movie and thought it was quite good, but the sfx were rather amusing.

Dungeons &
Dragons:

The second one.   Was rather surprised to see Bruce Payne in it, but
it wasn't a bad sort of movie.   In a way not quite what I was expecting,
but in a way it was.

Deuce Bigalo 2:
Funny movie.   Liked it as much as I did the first one.

Fantastic Four:
  Not
bad.   Can't stand Julian McMahon, but he was a good choice for the
baddie.   Not sure what I'm against him for, just am!?

The whole thing smacked of a sequel in the works.   And I see on ImDb
that there will be a sequel.

Boxing Day
Not sure what the term "Boxing Day" means anymore. I used to know but have forgotten. It's the day after Christmas Day here in Australia anyway.

We went to CJ's other sisters place today (about an hour's drive). Had a good time there too.

This years Christmas was quite good.

Christmas Day
At the last minute we decided to have Christmas at our house. CJ's family came around and we had a fantastic meal and a fantastic night.

Merry Christmas

And a happy birthday to Him and those who share the day of His birth.

New look
Well, I've done it at last ... a new look for my site.

I'm rather surprised I have used pink for the background, but it seems to work. May change it down the track a bit though.

Once again, I've used colours from the photo at the top of the page. The only colour that didn't come from the photo is the "active links" colour. But that's neither here nor there!

Well, it's just about 11pm, time for bed.

End of year.
Was the last day of work for the year today.

Glad to have a rest for a couple of weeks.

Long time no see!
Good grief it's been a long time since I've posted on here! Forgive me.

A lot has happened, and not a lot has happened!

The wedding plans are still happening ... slowly at the moment due to being "flat out like a lizard drinking" as they say, with work and Christmas fast approaching.

In the new year I'll be able to concentrate on it a bit more, and get the ball rolling on some of the "little things" that need to be done (like the cake, invitation paper etc). All the big stuff (church, reception booking and photographer) are all done and confirmed, it's just the little things that are taking awhile!

I can't wait for work to finish for the year (one and a half weeks to go!), I'm so tired. A good sleep in and a bit of a slow down to just be able to stop and think will be so good.

CJ and I went over to Nan's the other day and got her hooked up onto the internet. She's sent me a couple of emails and seems to be doing pretty good. Not sure how she's doing surfing the net, but I'm sure she'll give me a call if she gets stuck.

All else is well, apart from my website has taken a backseat to all else since the middle of the year, but I'll work on that over the Chrissy Holidays.

Well, it's off to bed for me, I'm not used to being up this late during the week. CJ's work finished for the year today, so he's making the most of his "being able to stay up 'late' and not having to worry about work in the morning" night.

Night all (those who still stop by!)

I'll post more (hopefully) tomorrow .... interesting pic that crossed my work email that has got me a bit stumped!

*slightly stressed, but blissfully happy*

World of Warcraft
... it really does take over your life!

Question of the month: How do you like your coffee (or tea)?

Myth: Housework. Once it's done, you can sit down and have a rest.

About me...
At the beginning of 2001 I moved to a little country town in the middle of Victoria (Australia) about 65kms from the town I was born and grew up in. It's a fairly peaceful historic town nestled at the foot of the Strathbogie Ranges. I live here with my husband in a house we bought in 2002. When we have the time and money we paint parts of the house, do some more gardening, and workout what renovations we can do to the house next... and also try to keep up with each day as it passes.
Messages ...
If I can find something similar to tagboard on the net that is customisable, I will put it here. Any ideas you can put my way?.
