Who was the smarter species?
"Hobbit" Discovered: Tiny Human Ancestor Found in Asia

On reading this article and other similar articles, I’m amazed at how often modern scientists seem so condescending to “other species of human”. The articles make me feel like the scientists think they were dumb. And if the scientists work out that the “other species” could use stone tools for hunting, etc they make it sound like it’s amazing that these “people” knew how to do that.

I’ve got a question; Who exactly do they (the scientists) think is the smarter species? After all, this species of human (and others like it) did not hunt hundreds (possibly thousands) of species of animal/insect/plant etc into extinction, did they?
Also, that species of human (and others like it) did not (do not) deliberately set out to destroy themselves by messing around with nuclear energy and using bombs etc to cause horrific harm to themselves and others.

Now I’ll ask. Who’s the smarter species, us or them?

I’d back them any day!

Friendships
On the movies, like Anne of Green Gables and other films where there are two people who share everything and are really close. Does that happen in real life? And how can you make it happen with your life?

Socialising/interacting with others.
I understand where people are coming from when they say to me, "you need to go out more, be around people more" the more I try to do that, the more uncomfortable I am and uneasy I feel.

When I'm out to lunch or dinner with people I know, I'm uncomfortable with the following:
Sitting there like a stunned mullet not knowing what to say while everyone else is joining in the conversation. I know there's the thing where you can "if a topic is being discussed that you can add to, add to it" but that for me is very rare, as the people I go out with have experienced life far more than me.
Not being able to hear questions properly and having them repeat the question, only to find I still haven't heard them, so I just end up nodding at them.
Being the only person at the table still eating, as I get bad indigestion if I eat too quickly.
Sitting next to a person who cleans their plate, when I leave things behind - due to being full (I only eat a little), or I'm not partial to an ingredient, and then they comment.
There are many more things that make me uncomfortable, but they're the ones that have just come to mind.

The people I go out to lunch/dinner with are nice people, I like them. I want to be more like them in some ways. But I just don't know how to. I have tried and tried and tried, but never had any better (less uncomfortable feelings) luck when going out with people.
Sometimes I think it would be easier if I didn't go out anywhere with a group of people (other than CJ) ever again. He's in a similar situation as me; being uncomfortable.

Guess I'll just keep plugging along and give it another try the next time I'm invited out for lunch or dinner with a group of people!

This joke has always made me smile :-)
A couple goes on vacation to a fishing resort in Northern Minnesota. The husband likes to fish at the crack of dawn. The wife likes to read. One morning the husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, drops anchor and reads her book.
Along comes a law enforcement officer in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, "Good morning Ma'am. What are you doing?"
"Reading a book," she replies.
"You're in a restricted fishing area," he informs her.
"I'm sorry officer, but I'm not fishing, I'm reading."
"Yes, but you have all the equipment. I'll have to take you in and write you up."
"If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman.
"But I haven’t even touched you," says the officer.
"That's true, but you have all the equipment."

MORAL: Never argue with a woman who reads. It's likely she can also think!

"POETS day"
Well, it's Friday again. This week went so fast. It only seems like yesterday that we were at the S'p'n Ag Show.

Hmmmm, so much I want to do tomorrow.

One of the ladies here at work was selling pedometres today, I bought one, just out of curiosity :-Þ

"Daisy Daisy give me your answer do
I'm half crazy all for the love of you
It won't be a stylish marriage
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet, upon the seat of a bicycle built for two"

Strange happenings.
I've been thinking about returning to study (IT) for a while. So Ive decided I might go back next year. Not quite sure how I'll juggle everything, but I'm sure all will work out fine.

Thunderstorms this morning .... fantastic sunny afternoon :-)

Living life is so good, I don't know why more people don't try it!

Quote
I found this quote while looking for some inspiration on the net.

Leo Szilard and Enrico Ferni, the two scientist build the atom bomb and destroyed world peace since 1942.

–Rosie Cash

World peace is the greatest thing we could ever hope for, but also the one thing we will never have.

World of Warcraft
... it really does take over your life!

Question of the month: How do you like your coffee (or tea)?

Myth: Housework. Once it's done, you can sit down and have a rest.

About me...
At the beginning of 2001 I moved to a little country town in the middle of Victoria (Australia) about 65kms from the town I was born and grew up in. It's a fairly peaceful historic town nestled at the foot of the Strathbogie Ranges. I live here with my husband in a house we bought in 2002. When we have the time and money we paint parts of the house, do some more gardening, and workout what renovations we can do to the house next... and also try to keep up with each day as it passes.
Messages ...
If I can find something similar to tagboard on the net that is customisable, I will put it here. Any ideas you can put my way?.
