Rain rain glorious rain!
Ok, it was just an old farmers myth ("wives tale") but it literally poured raining yesterday!!!!!!!! Stormy weather - sound and light show, huge drops of rain, the works!

I'm sounding waaaayy too excited, but when the summer has hardly had much rain, you can't blame me; can you?!

:-)

Today is a wonderful day!

Whaddid I tell ya?!
The blasted possums were in the plum tree outside the bedroom window last night.

Mind you they didn't make as much noise as I was thinking they would.

The moon was "emptying out" yesterday .... it's usually said to expect rain when the moon is like that. We'll just have to wait and see.

the Dining Table
Well, yesterday we stripped and sanded it down to almost bare wood. It's looking good.

Today we brought it inside the house and have started to varnish it.

Visitors
Today has been a pretty good day.

Our neighbour from over the back fence came by this morning to appologise for burning off in the middle of a Total Fire Ban! She said she's going to put a plant in the brazier instead of using it to burn off. I said it was ok, and introduced me and (my abscent) fiance :-)

Two of my good friends from work stopped by to say "Hi" and drop off a CD I am going to copy listen to.

I have decided that from now on I keep the house spotless; make the bed, no sheets over our lounge suit from visitors who've stayed for dinner (we don't yet have a table in the house that people can sit at so they sit in the lounge room on the lounge) etc. spotless SPOT-LESS!

Today has been good, to just sit, surf the net, talk to whoever comes online, and to think (meditate might be closer to it, I think)

Well, I'm off to the supermarket to see what I can get for dinner :-)

*musings*
Well, our lawn has officially died again! Nought but dry "yellow" dead grass again. But we're not too upset, we're doing our bit to save water and that's more important than a lush thick green lawn! Mind you we do have a creek right across the road, and we could sink a bore (just a tad expensive) so we're going to invest in a water tank instead.

The dark small plum tree near the clothes line has been stripped of all the fruit now! We've not seen a parrot for days, I've been hearing the Rosellas in the mornings, but no sign of them. The plum down the driveway is almost ripe .... *sarcasm* bring on the possums! NOT! Oh Gawd!

I'm dreading the first night we hear an almighty scream errupting from the plum tree in the driveway (opposite our bedroom window! Guess who sleeps on the window side of the room!!!!!) I just know I'll end up hanging by my nails off the ceiling.

Well, almost time for bed, up early for work tomorrow :-)
Night all.

... the last day.
Well, today is the last day of our Christmas Break holidays. I can't say I'm 100% happy about that, or 100% sad either. I don't quite know how to feel.

I'm a bit cheesed that it'll be back to the old 7am start work for CJ and the old wait for an hour and a half before I go to work.

This year it's gonna be different! This year I will exercise in the morning after breakfast before I walk to work. I'm determined to lose weight. Oh, and to buy a full length mirror.

It's not that i'm vain, but when you have a mirror that you can see what your body is doing and how it is changing, you don't lose track of how you look to the outside world. Over the past 3 years since I left home, decent sized mirrors (other than a medicine cabinet in the bathroom!) and quit dancing, and pre-current job; I've only just begun to realise just how fat and flabby one can get. :-(

Monday
It's a good thing we booked over the internet, for one thing it was cheaper and another thing was that we could go straight up to the room when we booked in!

We walked around for a bit, looking at all the old buildings (architecture) as we always seem to do and visited a couple of homewares shops to see if we could grab a bargain for the house. We never seem to have much success!

On the way to Myers, we heard this noise, we kept walking and coming towards us were Hari Krishnas, we were both surprised as the last time he'd seen them in Melbourne was about 6 years or so ago (and about 8 for me).
Went to the Pancake Parlour for dinner ...... sooooo gooooood.

Tuesday
We walked all the way down to Southbank and decided to go for a trip on the ferry to Williamstown.
Caught the ferry back into Melbourne, walked around Crown Casino for a while, then me and my big mouth thought "lets walk back to the hotel" what a mistake that was when we got to the hotel, we could hardly walk. Watched the movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen .... I was a bit disappointed in it.

Another weird thing that was happening, was all these people kept coming up to us and others asking for money for all manner of needs. CJ was amazed as that's not happened to him for years. Well during our three day trip to Melb, we had about 5 people come up and ask us for money!

Wednesday
Walked around again today, looked around Myers again and Target. Went into a couple of music stores and checked out guitars. Which surprised me just a bit!

Flamin Hari Krishnas again.

Almost time to head to Spencer St Station, and we stopped in at Allans Music Store and we bought an accoustic guitar and a couple of books.

It is so good to be home again. I worked out how to tune the guitar last night, was sounding pretty good. CJ and I have both been through Lesson 1 in the book. I'm glad I had those few piano lessons when younger, I've got a bit of a guide for reading the music, and I'm able to help CJ if he needs it.

Finally, some cooler weather.

It's good to be able to open the windows and doors to air the house out after a week of extremely hot weather.

CJ's mum and dad are coming for dinner tonight, roast lamb Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Tomorrow it is off to Melbourne for a short spell.

-------------------------

The green parrots are making short work of the plums on the tree in the backyard, noisy little buggers! There were about 7 of them there earlier this arvo.

The Rosellas are visiting almost every morning and sunset, eating the grass seeds in the lawn.

The Kookaburra family over the road must have thought something was positively hilarious this morning at 7am. They never fail to make me smile :-)

It's so good to live in a "bush setting"

Just trying these colours until Casa gets back to me with some different ones.

-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-

Well, we're off to Melbourne at the beginning of next week. Should be good :-)

I'm noticing the days are going quicker now.

Isn't that dumb, had a whole lot of things I wanted to say, now I can't remember one of them!!!!!! Getting old is not good *laments*

Yay, went and saw LotR: the Return of the King ..... Fan-flamin-tastic!

Can't wait to see it again.

Can't wait for them to be out on DVD box set.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!

New Years eve was pretty ok, we went out for some munchies (Twisties and a couple of Cherry Ripes) ... and I fell asleep on the couch. Woke up at 12:30. What a way to start the year, asleep!

The first day of the year has gone rather quick, mind you we didn't get out of bed until late (just after 9)!

Time to start thinking about dinner :-)

World of Warcraft
... it really does take over your life!

Question of the month: How do you like your coffee (or tea)?

Myth: Housework. Once it's done, you can sit down and have a rest.

About me...
At the beginning of 2001 I moved to a little country town in the middle of Victoria (Australia) about 65kms from the town I was born and grew up in. It's a fairly peaceful historic town nestled at the foot of the Strathbogie Ranges. I live here with my husband in a house we bought in 2002. When we have the time and money we paint parts of the house, do some more gardening, and workout what renovations we can do to the house next... and also try to keep up with each day as it passes.
Messages ...
If I can find something similar to tagboard on the net that is customisable, I will put it here. Any ideas you can put my way?.
